Dream Big! Reach High! No Limits!

Wellness Tip: (Emotional): Dream Big! Reach High! No Limits!

Guess what is coming soon!?!?  I am so excited I can hardly stand it!  Have you ever had a dream?  Have you ever had a desire to do something and for whatever reason, life got in the way, and that dream got put on the back burner?  Maybe you wanted to lose 10 pounds? Or maybe you wanted to start your own blog? Or maybe you want to finish that degree where you are only lacking a few credits?  Well, very soon, one of my dreams will be coming true!!

This journey started back in 2007.  I would pick up my dream, focus on it for a few days or a few weeks and then life would get in the way and it would end up on the back burner.  A few weeks or months later, the cycle would repeat itself.  Then there would be long spans of time when I didn’t even think about my dream!  BUT, on December 16, 2011, I put on my “get ‘er done” hat and clicked my little fingers to the core.  By December 12, 2012, yes, that’s 12/12/12, I added the final touches to my first book, ever!!! I met with a publisher recently, and very soon, I will actually have the final draft in print! Yahoo!!!   It’s been a long time coming and the revision processes seemed to take FOREVER, but now it’s done!  My book will challenge you to look deep within your heart and rediscover those things that matter to you, those things which define you, and those things that pull you towards a greater purpose in life.

If I can see one of my dreams come to pass, SO CAN YOU!!  Don’t give up!  It’s time to take that dream off of the back burner and pull it to the forefront.  Don’t let anything stop you until it’s done.  There is greatness on the inside of you and it’s just waiting to get out!  What are your goals this year?  What do you want to accomplish this year?  Go for it!  You can do it!

Your Steps Are Ordered

Wellness Tip: (Spiritual) Your Steps Are Ordered

One day I left my apartment intending to make three stops.  Walgreens, the post office, and the hospital since a friend’s dad had been rushed there that morning.  I went to Walgreens and then the post office.  As I was leaving the post office, there was a cop behind me flashing his lights and sounding his siren.  To my surprise he was pulling me over!  He pulled me over because my tags had not been renewed.  I thought to myself, “What???  This has to be a mistake.  I always pay my bills!” as I’m frantically looking for my registration and insurance.  The registration I had was from last year and my insurance card had expired months ago.  My insurance was paid up, I just had forgotten to make a copy of the ID cards and put them in my car.

Thankfully, the policeman did not write me up for expired tags, which he could have and it would have cost me over $100 in fees, PLUS the registration.  However, he did write me up for not having my insurance card.  He stated that I just needed to take a copy of the proof of insurance down to the clerk of court downtown and there would be a $10 charge.  Since I was laid off two days prior to this, I was thinking, God? Really? Today?

After I renewed my tags at the DMV, I drove home to print a copy of my insurance cards.  On my way home, I was feeling a bit anxious because I wanted to get to the hospital for my friend.  I printed my card and headed downtown.  Let me say right now, I LOVE my GPS!  A geographically challenged girl trying to get around downtown Tampa without a GPS would have been a nightmare!  I arrived at the courthouse, took my number and waited for my turn.

When I got to the counter, the guy behind the counter was astonished that I had received a ticket and was coming to pay it the same day.  He said most people wait.  He was also amazed that the officer did not write me up for my tags being expired.  We continued to talk for a few minutes.  It became apparent that he was a Christian.  I don’t even remember what all I said, but as I was leaving he said, “You have such amazing faith.  Here you are, having just lost your job, and you are encouraging me and I have a job!  Thank you for your encouragement.”   I then responded with, “Well, that right there was worth a $10 ticket!”

I walked outside and began to thank God for the opportunity to encourage another person.  Even though I had to go through getting pulled over and getting a ticket, God ordered my steps to the courthouse because that man needed encouragement from God.  I did get to the hospital and all is well with my friend and her dad.  A good reminder, when the “unexpected” happens in your life, look for God’s purpose.  When things happen outside of your plans, there may be a reason.  He’s always working…

Psalm 37:23  “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he delights in his way.” (NKJV)

Find What Works For YOU And Do That!

Wellness Tip: (Physical): Find What Works For YOU And Do That!

Everyone has their own personal journey.  Many of us have tried every weight loss program and every diet out there.  I have friends that lose weight by counting their intake of calories.  I have other friends that use popular weight loss programs.  In my efforts to lose weight, I used a process called Electro-Dermal Screening.  This screening process revealed that I had acquired a wheat, dairy, and gluten intolerance over the years.  When I removed wheat, dairy, and gluten from my diet, I lost 25 lbs in 90 days.

The point is that we all have our own journey.  If you have tried one of these options, or another, and it didn’t work, keep looking.  Find something that fits your lifestyle and personality and work it.  Counting calories and programs were not the avenue that worked for me, but I found one that did.  If you are in a place where you want to lose weight, find what works for you and do that!  Remember, it may or may not be the first thing you try.  Keep up the good work and remember to acknowledge each step that you take in the right direction.  Doing something is better than doing nothing.  You can do it!

One Thing At A Time!

Wellness Tip: (Nutrition/Supplementation): One Thing At A Time!

When diving into the world of health and wellness, like many things, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by all that is available.

During my nutritional journey to wellness, I tried everything from goat milk (yuk!), to gluten free wraps (pretty good), to an eating regiment of only fruits and vegetables for a week! (I had so much energy!).

Although the journey was frustrating at times, and still is occasionally, during the journey I became more in tune with what my body did well with and what it didn’t do well with.   For example, as soon as I eat something with wheat in it, I begin to clear my throat.  My body doesn’t like it.  A few days ago, I found a wonderful little treasure called Greens Organics – Organics Wild Berry at my local health food store.  Here’s the link for what it looks like. After four days of Greens Organics, I have so much more energy!

It is important to start new things one thing at a time when it comes to nutrition and supplementation. Why you ask?  Well, if your body begins to have a reaction, good or bad, you won’t recognize which new thing is the cause of the reaction.  For example, I bought the Green Organics and I also have a new vitamin for allergies called Clear Guard. I’m going to wait at least a week before starting the Clear Guard so that I can notice any changes that may arise in my body.  Always remember, try new things one thing at a time.  Give yourself a week in between.  What supplements have worked for you lately???
